Dean Eggers established U Management with Mal Tongue in November 2005. The seeds of U Management were sown on the golf course where Mal and Dean realised that with Mal's experience as a golfing coach, and Dean's business prowess, they had exactly what they needed to form a company that would give New Zealand's golfing talent the best opportunity to achieve consistent success in the golfing arena.
MANAGEMENT ACHIEVEMENTS
2005 Mentor for Conscious Design
In 2005, Dean identified two young Industrial designers who had completed their degrees at Victoria University, New Zealand as having immense design talent. Dean provided them with an opportunity to realise their dream of setting up their own company called Conscious Design. www.consciousdesign.co.nz. Conscious Design won “New Zealand’s Best Design Award’s”, Ministry of the Environment Sustainable Design award and was also a finalist in the Furniture Design Award for their latest designer furniture call Tio. www.tio.co.nz.
2005 Supreme Classic Set up and Sale.
In October 2005 Dean became Managing Director of Supreme Motor Group. The Company was rebranded Supreme Classic. Supreme Classic took on the Kia Brand for Wellington in early 2005. Once the new location to house the Peugeot and Kia Brands in Wellington was redeveloped, the company was sold in September 2006.
2004 Merger of National Car Rental and Xpress Vehicle Rentals
In 2004, Dean managed the purchase of National Car Rental by Xpress Vehicle Rentals. Dean merged these two companies to offer Vehicle Rentals through out the North Island. In early 2005 the Company was Re Branded under the Europcar Brand and was sold to the Australasian Owners of the Europcar Brand in July 2005.
2001 Aangel Technology
During 2001, Dean took an interest in a new start up technology Company called Aangel. www.aangel.co.nz. Aangel became a commercial reality in 2002 and has continued to grow into a very successful option available to all Vodafone Mobile users.
2001 New Zealand Vehicle Distributors Transport
In April 2001, Dean purchased Wellington Car Carriers. This was rebranded and marketed as New Zealand Vehicle Distributors Transport. With its key management restructured, the company gained the majority of the market share in the Lower North Island. New Zealand Vehicle Distributors Transport was sold in August 2006 to its main competitor.
2000 Car Dealer Magazine is set up
In August 2000, Dean set up a new company in the motor vehicle industry. The Car Dealer Magazine was born in Wellington in August 2000 and followed up in Christchurch, Southland, Manawatu and the Hawkes Bay. The Car Dealer New Zealand was sold to ACP in 2005.
2000 Restructure of Supreme Motor Group
Dean completed a restructure of the Supreme Motor Group in June 2000, which held the Peugeot, Jaguar, Land Rover and Renault Brands. Dean managed Supreme Motor Group until early 2004.
1997 Merging 1st Car Auctions and Turners Auctions
After merging 1st Car Auctions and Turners Auctions in Wellington, and restructuring the team, Dean moved to Auckland to manage and set up the Super Site for Turners Auctions in late 1997. The restructure meant a 600% increase in profitability over the next 2 and half years.
1995 1st Car Auctions is set up as a company
In April 1995, Dean set up 1st Car Auctions up on the Corner of Taranaki Street, Wellington. At that time, its main building was a marquee. Within 18 months Turners Auctions purchased 1st Auctions.
1992 Flower market and Import Manager for Turners and Growers
Dean started his career as an auctioneer with Turners and Growers after leaving school in 1989. Dean branched into management by taking the role of Manager for the Turners and Growers Flower Market. In 1992 Dean took over Management of the importing of Fresh Fruit and Produce from the US and Australia for Turners and Growers in their new Operation in Grenada Wellington.

2002 Ernst &Young Entrepreneur of the Year award Dean Eggers was a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for his role in the start up of 1st Auctions, The Car Dealer Magazine, New Zealand Vehicle Distributors and Management of Supreme Motor Group.
